Psyche
Inspired by Psyche by Lully, Molière, Corneille and Quinault, Locke's Psyche was a veritable artistic firework display: seeking to rival the continental operas in splendor, it greedily blended theater, song, dance, scenery and spectacular machines. Sébastien Daucé has done a wonderful job of reconstructing this essential masterpiece in the history of the birth of English opera.
